Meet the Grant Family

Missionaries Ed and Shery Grant pastor a church they started, high in the Andes Mountains in the heart of Bolivia, South America. After years of hard work, their church Piedra Viva is now a growing group of believers that reaches out to young families and university students.

Ed was born in Sandpoint Idaho, USA, and raised on his father's walnut farm near Red Bluff, California.  He went on to get an AA degree in general education in Shasta Community College, and then a BA degree in foreign languages from Chico State University in 1989. His two year missionary training with World Indigenous Missions, was completed in Coatzacoalcos Veracruz, Mexico, where Ed worked as a missionary to the Indians in the State of Oaxaca.  In 1991, Ed moved to Sucre, Bolivia, and started planting a church there the same year.

In 1992, Ed met Sherilú Zárate, daughter of a preacher who started and then ran an orphanage for 40 years in the village of Monteagudo, Bolivia.  In January of 1994 Ed and Sherilú were married.  Their first daughter, Laura, was born in January of 1995, and then Grace was born in January of 199, then Sara Elizabeth was born July 12 of 2005.  Ed has gained duo nationality in 2005, becoming a Bolivian citizen.

Shery is very busy teaching her children's Sunday school class, as well as being the Sunday School superintendant.  She also leades the women's group, and participates in many leadership functions in the church.  See more of her children's classes by clicking on one of these links:  Sunday School Classes or Family Celebration.
